Boston Celtics Top Regular Season Win Totals Set by Multiple Sportsbooks

It’s that time of year when sportsbooks and analysts begin publishing their NBA predictions for the next season. The offseason is ending and most free agents are signed, with a few notable exceptions.

Even with the prospect of some major trades to come, sportsbooks are optimistic about last season’s NBA Finals runner-up, the Boston Celtics when it comes to projected win totals. In fact, the Celtics lead the pack in the NBA.

It’s not the only betting market in which the Celtics are near the top. They’re one of the favorites to win the championship, too.

Boston Celtics Win Total

The win totals listed for the Celtics at three of the top US sportsbooks don’t vary much.

So, why are the sportsbooks anticipating that Boston will have the most regular season wins of any other team in 2022-23?

The Return of Key Starters

Overall, the Celtics have eight of their top players returning. Last season the team’s starters handily outscored opponents by 24.6 points per 100 possessions per NBA.com’s official statistics. Three starters are in their mid-twenties and just entering the prime of their playing careers: Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Robert Williams III.

All three averaged double figures led by Brown, who put up 23.6 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per contest, and dished out an average of 3.5 assists.

And with those youngsters, Marcus Smart, along with the oldest player on the team, Al Horford, return. Don’t count Horford out. He can still put up big numbers, evidenced by his offensive explosion in game one of last season’s Finals when he drained six three-point shots.

Quality Offseason Additions

In addition to that stellar lineup, second-year head coach Ime Udoka will also have Malcolm Brogdon after acquiring him in a trade with the Indiana Pacers and free agent signee Danilo Gallinari.

The team also added power forward/center Mfiondu Kabengele, who had a great season in the NBA Summer League and wowed crowds with thunderous dunks.

Looking at the roster, the Celtics are no doubt the deepest team in the NBA, giving them a solid arsenal to withstand the grind of a long season of 82 games. With that in mind, it’s no wonder they are the faves of sportsbooks for the highest regular season win totals. Barring any devastating injuries, the Celtics seemed primed to meet or exceed projections.

NBA Season Wins Totals

While the Celtics have the highest totals for regular season wins at all of the major sportsbooks, there are plenty of teams right on their heels. Here are some of the highest totals from the rest of the league offered by DraftKings.
